winter Prawn fishery

Prawn WG meeting where the fall index sampling and results
were discussed. Area 17 was as we discussed earlier, kept open.

They really did not have enough sampling done to work the area properly as only did sub areas 12, 13, and 16. Area 12 was the only marginal area with an index of 4.60 and target of 4.0. sub areas 13 and 16 were much higher at 8.40 and 9.41 respectively.

No closures listed so far for this winter.

What kind of a post is that RVP? Parts of area 17 (stuart channel) is closed. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

...the kind that says, the areas that have been kept open, will continue to stay open until further notice - rather than close as is the rest of the closures in and around the areas named.

17-6 and 17-9 remain closed.

fished prawns of wiskey point the last 2 weeks in nov, like the regs say and did just as well as i do in the summer , but the prawns seem to be bigger now with lots of females with eggs, i dont know why fishers just not just close it for the whole spawing season like they used to.. happy fishing..

cooking prawns???? any one deep fry prawns with those bread flakes from china town called ...PANKO.. if u havent , u got to try it... thems just to good
