My buddy and I got a 16lb spring last year out of Mable Lake and will be going back this year again, anybody else dragging up their gear to come fish for the springs.
Check the Fishery Notice Reports - Mabel Lake and the whole Shuswap River system is closed to salmon fishing with no plans to open it this year unless there is a dramatic change in flows and temperature:

Yep. Closed for salmon. Heard it on the CBC this morning. The occasional bruiser comes out of there. Some in the 35lb range every year. Sometimes bigger but not as often as in the past. I personally know a guy who got 2 50lbers in the same season. That was in 1998 or 99 and a good friend of mine caught a 42lber about 8 years ago. But most of the fish seem to be in the high teens to low twentys.
Do they shut down the whole lake or are you just not supposed to target salmon? Just moved to Vernon and wanted to do a day trip up that way. Wouldn't mind targeting trout if salmon is a no go
