What About Box Crabs?

110ft of water, taste delicious. The biggest one was on top. I’m going to get a proper trap, my buddy said volcano trap? The ones with large tunnel on the top.

This cute little fella came from south of Silva Bay as well but from a prawn trap set in 300’ of water.

Wow what a haul , what general area of the coast was this ? And what bottom topography . I’ve only had random catchings in prawn traps in the gulf islands .

Whats the furthest south you've found those.
My buddy goes to Hartley Bay for work a couple times a year and usually comes back with a haul of king crab.

There are some king crab in the channels south of kitkatla but sporadic and hard to find. If you get them it's great. That's as far south as I've heard for king. You can get tanners in rivers and smith's but there is not large amounts. A commercial fishery experiment was tried there but not enough biomass.
