Vimy Ridge

Today, on its 105th anniversary, we honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Close to 7,000 Canadians were wounded and over 3,500 made the ultimate sacrifice. May their sacrifices never be forgotten.

My Paternal Grandfather was wounded at Vimy Ridge and after the war ended came back to Canada then went to northern Alberta to meet up with Grandma who was teaching there.
He contracted the Spanish Flu and spent a couple of weeks in hospital before recovering, whereupon they moved back to Coquitlam and the property I grew up on. Couple of years later they had their one and only child, a son who later became my Father.
How tenuous our existence is sometimes.
Here's Grandpa in his uniform.

Take care.
