Try Shimano's new westcoast Technium rods. They are built with the same TC4 construction as the Talora rods but are lighter, yet a bit stiffer for excellent downrigger rods. I got 2 last year and I like them better then my Talora's
Ugly stick with a shimano 4000 reel. ugly stick has a 5 year warrenty. if you break it before the 5 years bring it to the place you bought it and you get a brand new rod. the 4000 reel is very popular reel, pritty much every one has used one or the knock off version the Diawa M-One. both good reels and easy to use
have loved my lamiglass rods for years !but last year i broke a rod and couldn`t get it replaced as i was only back in town for a few hours . i ended up getting a shimano technium and really like . it will take alot of s%!* and abuse. i will never fully change over but this rod rocks and the feel is sweet. scottyboy
