Transducer Upgrade

I have a Gen 1 HDS7 (soon to be relegated to the back of the boat to make room for a newer 9") and two seasons ago I upgraded from the stock Lowrance trans to the P66. It made an enormous difference. My brother in law fished on my boat for one day last year and the next day he went out and did the same upgrade to his boat. P66s are excellent transducers and pack a lot of bang for the buck.

Which stock lowrance trans? the 83 or the 50?

As I recall it was an 83/200. The P66 was a night and day improvement and it has a paddlewheel speed sensor. Not only was the resolution improved, but the tracking too. I can clearly read bottom at planing speeds now for example.
