Tofino next weekend

Going camping for the long weekend coming up.

Might go out to one of the banks if the weather is nice enough but if it’s not any winter spring action around the tofino area?

Anybody gone over to hot spring cove?? Do they have a marina? Can you camp?

Any info would be great .Thanks

Hey Salty.

I just came back from 2 days work out of Tofino.

We ran the boat from Port Alberni yesterday morning and I just walked back in the door. Sadly because of the hectic work schedule we didn't get to fish salmon at all and only briefly for halis.

But f*ck did I see a LOT of bait compared to Barkley.

We were in Cypress Bay this morning sounding the bottom for a lease expansion and we marked all kinds of bait balls. Some big ones too.
Also for the first time in 2 years saw the gulls working a ball hard.

Then on the way back, about a mile north of Amphritite there was another large group of birds working a bait ball. Prior to that we had a spring jump right beside us.

DAMN WORK!!!

But, we did drop the jigs briefly in search of a flattie, realeased some nice lings and carried on our way. God the weather was nice.

Also saw about 12-15 pods of grey whales. They are all over right now.

I don't fish out of there, but am thinking about a go here right away based on this.
