The Hill to Die On - by Bob Hooton

Have a look at the bs platitudes from DFO , FNs and the Province in Toms op ed.

Great article, touches on many of the issues. Bottom line is we need to rally all the communities and come up with action steps we can all get behind. Given the dire situation and challenges steelhead face, both time and pulling out all our available tools is critical. Blink and we land on extirpation if we aren't already there. I'm pretty sure it will take the fishing community coming together to support a broad based recovery strategy that we all can agree and sign off on to get both levels of government to come to the table.

Let's face it, which gov't employee would like to stick their neck out in the present highly volatile community environment to offer concrete plans?
Its a giant game of whack a mole....they offer to consider small scale fish culture....whack. They offer to work on selective harvest....whack. Let's close a river...no whack...hmmm that was safe. Let's put in place some more angler regs...no whack...that too was safe....hmmm.

Decent article.

Zero content of the netting from August to December on the Fraser when the stocks of concern are migrating.

Recreational anglers causing mortality?
Sort of hard when almost all the fisheries that would encounter IFS have been closed for years.
