from my 90 suzuki 4stroke manual it says to use premium quality 4 stroke motor oil, SAE 10W-40 and to use only SE SF SG SH or SJ under the API class. system.
Get a quality 10-40 oil, dump 'er in and go. All that happens with Suzuki Oil is the dealers get to charge $180 for an oil change. Any SAE oil will be just fine.
I think there's some "fear mongering" on the part of the manufacturer's in order to keep selling their high priced product.
I use Castrol GTX in my outboard and have no complaints.
