Skunked out of Comox

Well, we headed out late this morning after launching from Cape Lazo ramp. Must admit the tide was out along ways... we were right to the end of the ramp.

The weather was awesome, the wind dropped off to nothing. After reviewing several forums on anchoring for halibut, we gave it a try today. No problem with the anchoring, we moved 4 times over the course of the day. Despite fishing for about 2 hours, the 1st spot yielded 1 short-raker rock cod, so we moved to a pinnacle a mile away. This location produced non-stop action, yup all the dog fish we could handle!!!

After 2 hours of feeding the local wildlife (15 plus mud sharks), we picked up moved into the shallows looking for some soles (for your information, the doggies preferred the salmon over the herring). We anchored up twice, had several hits, and landed only one flat-lander. Took pity on the little guy and let him go. Missed the tide change for the soles, but it was a beauty day.

Decided to let my sweet-heart steer the boat back to the ramp, helps to build confidence, and teaches her boating skills. She also backed the trailer down and cranked the boat on to the trailer!!!

Wow, incredible day on the water, nope no fish, but we are drained, and thankful for a break in the weather.
