Single or Twin??

Dock handling for sure is easier with twins but on a 24ft and under boat someone decent on the helm will have no problem docking on a single. Loved the twins when I had them but the extra operating costs and replacement cost just didn't make sense to me.

Big displacement and naturally aspirated motors seem to last the longest with less problems in my opinion. Less stress simple design.

For docking with an outboard, you do not need twins.

The reason that shaft and rudder boat drivers like twins is to turn tight without the use of the small rudders found on most recreational boats.
Outboards are the rudder, so you just point it in the direction you want to go and put it in gear.
I could see some of these lighter aluminum boats with the large canopies being a bit of a bear to dock in a breeze, but it would still be dream compared to a Hatteras or Bertram with a big flying bridge and tiny rudders.
