For non-tidal waters, managed by the Province, you need to check the regs both for the Region and the specific water related regulations. There is no point in relying on what people tell you particularly when it is some generalized statement. The Provincial fishing regulations are complicated! To think a few years back they made a point of simplifying them to the extent they could. FWIW I either use barbless hooks or pinch the barb flat for all my fishing.
