One of my reels is acting up, can't get the drag knob to tighten down unless I put pressure on it.
Then the drag is too tight.
There seems to be only 1 drag washer, is that the culprit ?

Hey scott yes the washer is done all you need is a new washer depends how old it is they have new ones made from a different material that last a bit longer we had a stock pile of them at the lodge as we burned them up all the time, replace it and you will be good to go....
Outfitters probablly may have em...

Good luck Wolf

Found a couple of those washers in my spare parts, do you put any kind of lube on them
or is that like putting grease on your brake pads ?

I never have just oiled the clicker and the shaft a tiny bit I think they are meant to be dry.

The drag washers go smooth like polished leather after a fair bit of use. You can sometimes extend their life by roughing them up with med. sandpaper, especially if you don’t have a replacement available.

Whenever you are finished a fishing session........uncsrew the drag knob so there is very little pressure on the washers.

If you leave them for ages , tightened up, that is no good for the washers. (Applies to any reel).
