I put new bearings on my trailer and I've got one side that after spinning the wheel and tightening the castle nut to seat the bearings and then backing the castle nut off to insert the cotter pin, the castle nut slot wants to be RIGHT in between the openings for where the cotter pin slots in.
Back the nut off slightly and I have a tiny amount of play/wiggle on the tire. Tighten to the next spot on the nut and all feels good with the tire spinning freely and no wiggle, but maybe too tight? I don't think so? The wheel spins freely enough.
My question/ concern is : Do you want the castle nut to be a hair loose or snug?
I've done research and I've read answers both ways so we'll see what happens here.
