Podded zeta 24 build thread.

Hello, im close to completing my build on a zeta 24. So far i had the inboard taken out and then off to "north island fiberglass" to get the glass work done. They enlarged the fuel tank hold so i could enlarge the tank. Unfortunately i asked for a hold that would accommodate a 300 liter tank but i received a 230 liter tank, only 60 liters more then the original, that was a let down but there was nothing i could do. The new fuel hatch cover looks nice and so does the deck. I aslo asked to have drains put in the stingers to keep any water build up on the other side, this cost me 400 dollars and i received 3 unsealed drill holes in my stringers (and one in the wrong spot!) I wish i knew thats what he was going to do and i wouldn't have gor him to do the drains! Im looking for someone to repair that work. They filled the leg holeand that looks good and also prepped the back transom for podding.

After the fiberglasser was done disappointing me i took it to "coastline fabricators" welding shop to get the tank and pod made. This is when the fairy tale started. He tooks notes (unlike the fiberglasser) so he could fabricate my dream pod and a fuel tank. He was awesome! Lots of communication along the way and was happy to have me stop by regularly to see how it was made. The end result was the pod i had visioned and what i believed is perfect (although it hasn't been sea trailed yet) i went with the hull extension to hopefully solve and issues that come along with podding a boat. My experience with "coastline fabricators" was excellent 11 of of 10.

Im going to spend the week working on installing the fuel tank with all the bits and doing everything i can to ot before it goes to the shop on the 6th to get the motors swapped from my double eagle over to the zeta along with rhe hydraulic steering and a few other things. Hopefully i can have it in the water the morning of july 15! Podded 206 eagle for sale thread to follow.

What was the problem /excuse with north island fiberglass not making the gas tank area bigger?

I didn't get much of a reason except that it was to late to fix it now. I did notice he didn't write anything down which seemed to cause alot of issues.

Hi I love what you’re doing with your boat. The pod looks amazing good job. I also have been rebuilding a 24 zeta that was a soft top now converted to an aluminum hard top. I completely gutted the hull and had new stringers and bulkheads installed along with a new transom. Everything had been redone. I am hoping to have in the water early 2022 it’s been a long time since I was given the hull in 2004 from my best friend’s sister after he passed away from a peanut allergy complication. Phill would be proud to see his old baby now. I m looking forward to seeing more pictures of your boat.
cheers

I don't like the all glass bulkhead/door,adds very little strength to the boat as opposed to a solid bulkhead w/sliding door, but to each their own. The 24 Zeta is a great candidate for a pod,it'll be great when all done.

Well done! That boat looks excellent!

Isn't your new motor bracket a bit low to the water line? Hope this works out well. Picture may be deceiving....
The motor bracket was perfectly placed and cruises like a dream. The extra high walls of the zeta might make it deceiving.
