Ok the only way this could happen if you watch the clip again is that the sun looks low and he's blinded by it ...the side of his boat is glowing from the sun ...
the guys shadow on the ferry was long so sun was low ... lol maybe just maybe.
Thats just stupidly close for anyone to do that ... actually i see lots of boats in the harbour haha trying to over take each other ,
