outboard positioning

I am told that my kicker SHOULD be mounted so that the anti cavitation plate is in line with the bottom of my boats hull at the transom. Will it present a major problem if it is mounted a few inches (like up to 5") either higher or lower? Thanks for any info.

If mounted higher there's a good chance you will cavitate in large swells

id rather have mine 5" too long than 5" to short.... wait till your sideways in the chuck and your prop sucks air every roll back and forth.

and at trolling speeds having it hang down isnt going to be an issue
