new fly fisher (need tips on flys and line)

hi im new to flyfishing i have 130$ dragonfly rod and reel combo with floating line, but it seems like most fish are caught with sinking line.Should i buy another spool with sinking line?And plz tell me what flys work the best and at what time of the year andare they a dry or wet fly.
Any info. would be great thanx!
