Need help tuning my Rapala lure

I have tried to modify my rapala Jointed Shad Rap to fit the winter regulation ( single hook barbless) but I find that it doesn't swim quite right with a single hook on the end part. I have tried a assortment of hooks but I can't seem to find the right one. Last weekend I tried to use a #2 mustasd that I worked up a little. This combination seem to let the lure swim and I had bites but it fails to hook fish. I tried other hooks such as Matzuo #4 plain shank offset ( the shank is too long and it kills the action of the lure.)
Do any of you have an idea what to use and where to get it because my only other alternative is to cut two hooks on the treble hook that the lure comes with.

I agree with shake a paw,try the siwash, look on the tomic plug website to see how they do it.

My problem is size. I look on the net and I am not able to find the the right size. Also these have a fairly long shank. OK I am done being a pessimist and I will look at the local supply store.(island outfiter)
