would it be better to moor a boat at browns bay or campbell river this time of year? kinda open ended question but any info would help.

Safer to moor your boat in Campbell River then Browns bay. All the moorages in Campbell River have great rock breakwaters, while Browns Bay has floating tank cars. Some days at Browns Bay it is not safe to walk on the docks due to storms. Had yearly moorage in campbell River at the Goverment wharf from 1987-2008, never had a problem.

Reminds me of an instant a number of years ago at Browns Bay.
I was down doing some work on the boat when someone yelled "HEADS UP!" And here comes a 5 ft swell. It was from one of the Canadian frigates that went roaring through at an impressive speed. The docks were bouncing all over the place ( including me!) Jim, the manager, was so po'ed that he called DND Victoria to complain. What he was told was that DND "Neither confirmed or denyed that one of our vessels was transiting the area."

so-- yes, between the navy, cruise ships and nasty weather the marina can be a-rockin!!!!
