Islander MR3s

For Sale:
5 Islander MR3s. I have upgraded to TR3s. All bearings that needed to be replaced have been replaced. These were completely cleaned and re greased last summer. Corks are lubed and smooth. $500 per reel or $2500 for the set. I would like to try and sell 4 as a package deal and the single on its own. Or sell all 5 in one shot. The reels are located in Vancouver. I can ship to the island if required. I can face time you to show you the condition if required. The reals are in great shape with a few scratches on the bottoms from rubbing on the deck of the boat but otherwise they are clean. Call or Text me at 604-376-9634

Yes. In the later years, they changed to the MR2 smaller drag wheel which made it easier to get your fingers in there. It’s also another way to tell the vintage of one just by looking at it.

You're not talking the really small slippery one are you? The one nobody can grab.

No, however I know what you refer to. I got this info from one of the knowledgable islander people that works in a Campbell River fishing goods store when I bought my last MR3.

They are the exact same shape of course, just that one is smaller diameter than the other. If you have an MR2 and an MR3, maybe check to see.

I am not an Islander expert but I don't think these are the small corks. More photos for reference attached. Like I said earlier I have completely serviced all 5 of these. They were cleaned like the photo shows. Then re-lubed and greased. Hope this helps.

If we are talking about the drag knob and not corks than I am positive that they are the most up to date size. These were purchased in 2018

Lol. He did this famous bit about oxymorons or expressions that contradict each other. Jumbo shrimp, military intelligence, bittersweet etc. Newer vintage was perfect!

I wasn’t a big fan of the earlier ones, my buddy has a slate one with the old drag knob and it sucks to crank down versus mine which have the newer one and easier to grip and grab

Your MR3 has the older style drag knob and your daughters is the regular MR2 not the LA that has the same style as the newer MR3’s
