have not owned either, but it looks like the garmin is the better
unit with dual beam and 500watts output as opposed to the
humminbird with single beam, 150watts output.
I was not trying to give you a sales pitch, its fairly obvious that the dual frequency of the garmin and the fact is has more power make it the hands down winner to me...I know guys with the garmin who love it, but I do not know anyone with the Humminbird.
Hummingbird fishfinders have dual beam now as well.
I like mine. Matrix model with dual beam. But I know Garmin are a better quality. Hummingbirds are generally cheaper.
I would highly recommend a Garmin. Used to have an older Humminbird and like the Garmin A LOT better. But who knows maybe the new humminbirds have been greatly improved upon?
