Hey Guys, my neighbor has a Honda 50hp and the tilt trim doesn't work. When you hit the switch it makes noise but doesn't move. Any ideas? (And the lock for travelling is off) Thanks......BRS

Try giving it a helping hand, lift up as you press the switch, if it comes up and stays up, the cross tube may need lubing. Other possibilities-- as newfie boy says, low on fluid; coupler betweem pump motor and pump broken/stripped (not positive on connection with hondas)

That may be the problem. It doesn't get used much (maybe not for long) what type of fluid would it be? How do you check level?.........BRS

First check the fluid in the power trim unit.

If that is ok, check all of your electrical connections from the trim motor (disconnect connectors, clean and reconnect) to your engine...especially the ground. Check all grounds on your engine and make sure they are clean and free of corrosion.

Make sure you have a good strong battery.

Check for clean and tight connections at the battery.

Make sure that you have connected all the wires (for your accessories, etc) on your battery to the proper plus or minus terminal.

It could be just a trim motor ready to die, but could just be a connection that is not allowing current to flow.
