Garmin 9 Axis Heading Sensor w/ NMEA 2000 interface is a great addition to your existing Garmin chartplotter / radar electronic installation. It allows you to accurately overlay radar returns over your GPS charts in addition to providing much more accurate information on the direction of your vessel. In particular, when the water is choppy or has swells, the heading sensor will ensure you have accurate heading information.
I purchased this 18 months ago and was using it in combination with the 7610xsv Chartplotter and the Garmin Fantom Radome. It works extremely well. I’ve recently added an autopilot which required a different sensor so I no longer required this one.
