Recent catch rates in the Albion test fishery are very low and the current forecast spawning escapement of spring and summer Fraser chinook, based on cumulative test fishery catches through June 7, 2008, is 26,400. At the current escapement forecast, the Department will be implementing additional management measures to protect large spawners returning to the Fraser River. Sport Fishing Advisory Board representatives have been consulted on these measures. The spawning escapement forecast will be updated on June 15.

Effective 00:01 hours Monday June 16,2008 and until 23:59 hours Friday August 8, 2008, additional fishery restrictions on Chinook salmon will be in effect in Subareas 29-6, 29-7, 29-9 and 29-10. During this time period and in these areas the daily limit is two (2) Chinook salmon per day which must be greater than 62 cm and less than 77 cm. You may not retain Chinook with a fork length less
than 62 cm or greater than 77 cm.

For a description of Subareas 26-6, 29-7, 29-9 and 29-10 please refer to Fishery Notice 223.

Effective 00:01 hours Monday June 16, 2008 and until 23:59 hours Friday August 8, 2008, in 29-11 to 29-17 and in Region 2 the non-tidal waters of the Fraser River you may retain one Chinook per day greater than 30 cm but less than 77 cm. You may not retain Chinook greater than 77 cm.

Notes:

The aggregate daily limit for all species of Pacific Salmon (other than kokanee) from tidal and non-tidal waters combined is four (4).

Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal waters of British Columbia. This includes all species of fish in the Fraser
River.

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the voluntary Salmon Sport Head
Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped
Chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical
information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head
Recovery Program at (866) 483-9994 for further information.
