Hi folks we are planning a road trip down to Vegas and then coming back via the Califrnia/Oregon coast and wondered if anybody knew of any good fishing/outdoor shops we could browse at on our way through?

There are hundreds and hundreds of great places to stop.
If you're in Vegas then start @ Bass Pro but from there, once you get to the California coast, there are too many to count.
Hi's in San Francisco might appeal to someone from BC because they do carry some Salmon gear, further south not so much.

Here in the Portland, OR area we have:
Fisherman's Marine Supply
Sportmans Warehouse
Gi Joes
Listed from best to worst. If your in Astoria, or Newport OR on the coast then Englund's Marine would be worth your time. In seattle I would definetly go to Seamar (I think it is short for Seattle Marine).

Bass pro in vegas is huge. the place has almost every thing and the stuffed animal displayes are the best and most imagintize I have ever seen. also the gun room up stairs is well worth it. they have $50,000 shot guns in there. Live fish displays all over the place and the roof of the fishing area is outstanding. make a point to see it.
