fire on board ship off victoria

Should they not just be towing it out further at this point? Or is that worse?

Storm has arrived with rain and winds, hard to see the ship from shore at times.

Update: well that rough weather lasted less than an hour it seems. Seas calmed, although maybe rougher out there, rain stopped and sun came out. Almost like mother nature decided we had enough on our hands at then moment.

CCGLive: The first priority of the response to the M/V Zim Kingston was to stabilize the fire and that has been achieved today. Depending on weather tomorrow, hazardous materials firefighters will board the ship to fight any remaining fires and ensure the fire is out. Emergency tow vessels, tugs and the Canadian Coast Guard will be on the radio and on the water overnight tonight to monitor the situation, ensure the five crew members on the ship are safe, and that the ship remains secured. Further updates will be provided tomorrow.

Took a look first thing this morning, ship is still there, along with the Seaspan Raven and one Maersk alongside, the other Maersk a short distance away with the Atlantic Raven. Smoke still coming off it, albeit a lot less. Survived the storm this far, still lucky the strongest predicted winds haven't developed off Vic.

It's mining chemicals on fire.
Long lead time before they impact dishwasher and heat pump production.

Tesla batteries?

40,000 gallons of water per battery....

Imagine this in California where they have a drought.

Yes, the ocean off the coast of California is experiencing a drought so the fireboats would have a hard time getting water.

Shate’s hitting the fan….

A total of 106 containers — not 40, as previously reported — of toys, clothing, automotive parts, industrial parts and furniture went off the side of the ship when it hit rough seas near Port Angeles.

Port Angeles? I suspect that’s wrong. Likely out off West Coast. Funny I was listening to KING 5 and they said the entire event happened in US waters. All the models I’ve seen indicate it happened off Vancouver Island. American’s……always trying to take credit for everything. That last part was humour.
