Favorite Squid Hootchie?

Hi
When the squid are around in big numbers and people are fishing tighter to shore (e.g. Ucluelet and Tofino at this time of year), is there any particular 'colors' or hootchie # that seem to work better than others, I've have a few natural tone color hootchies (i.e. brown tones) but I've hardly given them any water time as yet.
thanks

White purple haze octopus size. Blue glow spackle back very similar to turd, but a little smaller.

The next choices would probably really surprise people. Mini plankton hoochies, just like for Sockeye, but rigged on a 42-45 inch leader. Pink is always good, MP15. Even caught large Halibut on these over there, believe it or not. Also a mini hoochie in a chartreuse colour has worked hot dam on springs as well. You'd never think a hali would take a mini hoochie, but I've caught three Hali on them on two different trips.

Too many hoochies too mention, Kajiki style hoochies work well over there too. Kajiki hoochies have a long nose similar to the turds, but a little smaller. They are hard to find now a days, but a few places sell them.

Your question does not match the thread title. A hoochie, depending on style/size/color can imitate fish, squid, shrimp, octopus. For a baitfish imitation, Golden Bait color 142 is hard to beat

Your question concerns a kanjeki style hoochie known as a "Tofino Dog Turd" - the body is long, & will be some sort of brown on the back, lighter tones underneath. This coloration is very close to what the actual squid look like. The best brand of turds is probably Yo-Zuri,but some Golden Bait colors will work too.

North Pacific Cuttlefish in Army Truck UV or glow stuffed with a 5" anchovy filet...pretty deadly. Oh and I brine my anchovies in Pro-Cure Brine N Brite Chartreuse Glow.

Completely agree, caught some great springs on pink gear targeting pinks including my personal best. I bet you can imagine my pleasant surprise when my line popped off the clip and started peeling off. Fishing 70 feet on the rigger in 200 feet of water, much different fight for me something that shallow.

These are rigged for Halibut meant to be fished off a spreader bar but this is the pattern
