External GPS antennae

Howdy all,
I installed a new Lowrance HDS 5 Gen 2 gps/chartplotter/sounder. Really like it so far. A bit of a learning curve to figure out all it can do.
Is there any benefit to installing a good external GOS antennae! If so,which one do you all have experience with.
The Lowrance Point 1 has good review from what I see.

Go with a point 1 but you need to add a nmea 2000 starter kit

I've been happy with the point 1. Way better than the old 2000 and 3000 series. Best price I found was GPS city in Calgary.

if you wait awhile
i think the point one comes with the Lowrance autopilot, still to go on sale
and if you have hdy steering is only $1,000 ish
not a bad option sounds pricey but real bonus if you fish solo
like i do a lot
going simrad and its twice the coast but is available and proven
