I have a buddy who fishes them and said they’re real tanks to fight.

It’s been slow. The water temp is around 40 degrees so they are not very active yet.

Still slow. Lol. You didn’t missed much yet.
It’s been a cold spring. Lot’s daphnia and that’s what trouts are feeding on, so tough fishing.

i have caught a shitload of carp in my life using bar rigs. corn or breadballs was what i always used.

Bait balls made up with corn meal and other junk. You can actually buy bags of some premixed dry ingredients that you add water and ball up. Need a rig that doesn't let them feel the hook until they've mouthed the bait a few times and approve of it. They're picky as hell. I caught a ton of them off the beach in osoyoos. Just sat the crappy tire rod in the lawn chair while I played boche. Tons of fun to play. Not great eating, all bones.
