So it looks like we are going to start using our woodstove more often. So I need to buy an axe,I don't want to buy a piece of crap, but I have no idea what make or where to buy,or what to look for.PS it doesn't have to be a Paul Bunyan size. Thanks Dan.

Well if you want to throw down large then Lee Valley has the$e.

Apart from that Good Luck, Xmas Eve I lost my axe head in a snowbank (don't ask).

The Bad News is that when I was looking for a replacement all I saw was junk the Good News is that when the snow melted my neighbour found/returned it.

That just begs to be "axed" why or how?? :D;)

I cut firewood all the time, The only type to buy is from Canadian tire, yellow fiberglass type handle, and warrentied for 4 years. I have never had an axe last that long. I have gone through about 10 of them and only paid for the first 1. These axes would probly last the average guy for years, but I swing them pretty hard ;)

Take only what you need.
