Dayily Record broken on the Boniville Dam

This is what happens when the local, state and federal govts work together with First Nations and rec anglers to protect and promote salmon. They are restoring habitat, increasing hatchery production, thoughtfully managing harvesting and removing hydroelectric dams and this is the great results they get. Healthier rivers and streams, more salmon to feed and benefit many users and sectors and sustainable economic opportunities and growth.

We need to work for the same in BC and stop the Prov and Fed Govts who are continuing to go in the opposite direction!

Well said and 100% agree with you there WitW

No Canada's way is to say we have a problem coming up the pipe...do nothing...ten years later say...you know that problem we warned you about...well guess what? Then have no recovery plan except to curtail fisheries. Then after 15 years of very restrictive fisheries, lost jobs, lost income revenues, lost tax revenues, a 26 million dollar inquiry, they still have no recovery plan and continue on doing nothing thinking it still might just work. Well it was the same plan they used on the east coast so you know it may just pan out.

Sad but so close to the truth. Here we are years ahead in our ground fish but decades behind in salmon management.

While these problems have spanned multiple governments, absolutely nothing will happen under Harper's Conservative govt. They have one agenda and one agenda only and that is to turn Canada into an oil and gas energy superpower. All they can see is $$$ and that motivation was behind bill C-38 and the gutting of the Fisheries Act. West coast salmon are an irrelevant "blip" on their radar screens. An irritating fly to be lierally squashed and brushed aside before the almighty $$ and the carbon fuel "god".
He is sending his "troops" out now and will attempt to steamroller his "pipe dreams" through.

This issue is going to be such a huge fight it is going to occupy Harper and BC for years. Salmon will be pushed off the media entirely and it will be up to all those that care to try and keep it front and centre as a key strike against these insane wilderness, stream and coastal ocean destroying pipelines.

Voters love to be ripped off. 1 billion spent by BC hydro on smart meters. For what benefit to the citizens of BC? Higher rates?

Yup I'm certain top politicians have spouses or other friends heavily invested in whatever company got that 1 billion dollar contract. That's only one example there is huge government waste all over they say they need to buckle down and balance the budget what they mean is we need more revenue to steal.
