Coho Derby Predictions

Whole in the Water

Well-Known Member
Well anyone have any predictions or advice on how the coho fishing will be for the derby in PR this weekend?

Hopefully with the rain we are getting right now a few fish will start to school up and make this year better then the last two.

Sharp hooks and full traps!

My guess is 20.5lbs.
There is a number of fish but there a long way up off Bonilla pt in 450-600ft of water.Who knows what will happen with this rain.
There won't be many guides in it this year as one of them picked this weekend to get married and most of the guides will be at the wedding.
Good luck to all

Thanks Mike, hopfully everything goes smooth and good luck in the derby if your in it.

I heard a 20 pounder has been weighed in...there's the one to beat.

I am going up to Renfrew Sunday to enter the derby for one day only. Taking a friend's boat, 16 or 17' aluminum skiff, have 2 tickets. However, my fishing buddy is looking iffy, so might have a spot open...if anyone is interested, please PM me. (click on Juandesooka)

The fishing has sounded pretty slow lately, but there's obviously a few out there. Supposed to be good weather Sunday, hopefully a nice morning on the water, and maybe a fish or two as a bonus.

Maybe see you out there....

John
