cleaning fishing tackle and rods

Ive been wondering how often should you clean your fishing tackle and rods if you could let me know that would be great.

I wash mine down with fresh water after every trip.

Same as Al....rods, reel and gear all get rinsed off every time they are used. All of my rods and reels still look brand new.

On my DR rods i got couple of Daiwas I never wash, ummm maybe once a month when I take the boat out of the slip for some TLC. On the other hand I bought a Okuma POS at Island Outfitters, and after six month and starting to rust both reel and eyelets on the rod I do it after every use. Oh yeah them Daiwa Firewolfs I got at Wallymart.
