Hi Guys..Just wondering what kind of insurance you guides have or need to run a charter boat. Thanks

So, with no replies does this mean when I charter a guided fishing trip we are not covered by any insurance..

Anyone who is up to date with all the safety and certificates and inspections be it a yellow or blue decal im sure will have charter insurance, most of us carry a liability insurance as most marinas now want to see that a charter boat has it and is on the plan to cover there a$$ as well.
If your ever in doubt ask the charter guy if he studers or stamers in any way you know what is going on.

Good luck wolf

$2 million in commercial liability, plus a CGL to cover off boat activities. There are 2 basic packages, one for serious guys and one with limited trips. Be careful about area of coverage, as most policies do not cover off shore operations. It's expensive so be prepared to pay $$$. As was stated, many guides do not carry any commercial liability because they are either unaware of the fact their pleasure boat policy will not cover them, or they simply don't have assets or care about protecting their customers. There is a limit of liability that can be imposed on an operator under the Marine Act - I can't recall at the moment if that is more than $250,000 or not. Sure someone out there can look it up and tell you. So, if you carry 6 passengers you will need to have at least $1.5 million in overall liability coverage.
