Besides salmon

so it's the last few days of September and rockfish and lingcod are closing soon. What else out there can I go after in my kayak. I live in Nanaimo.

I have caught bright Chinook as late as Oct 15. Coho can run into Nov. Chum can run into Jan. Winter Springs can be around anytime. They tend to be close to the bottom, so with a Kayak jigging or cut-plug will be the best options.

Aside from what others have mentioned you could go for flounder, halibut, greenling, dogfish, crabs, and I'm sure I'm missing some...

I've yet to catch a flounder worth keeping and I do ok on crab. I'll try for dogfish sometime and report back on how they taste. And I have not found a kelp bed around Nanaimo for me to chase greenling in.
