So am i reading things correctly ? chinook retention in area 23 has dropped down to 2 under 77cm only ! , Boy it,s getting harder and harder to justify a week long fishing trip from the Kootenays , expense wise . WELL one thing for sure it won't be as crowded in Bamfield .

That will be as of August First. Due to an extremely poor run projection of Stamp springs (16,700 total). Years of ongoing "management" has finally borne fruit.

I'm not sure how they determine which fish are Robertson Creek right now......

But...there you go....if the salmon aren't carrying a U.S. passport it seems we'd be SOL.

Regulations, cutbacks, DFO, scientists, government, arguments, fingerpointing....the list goes on in Canada.

but here we are, at the end of the day, after the monumental posturing, press releases, consultations about supply and demand on the coast and all else...
with no fish for the the Alberni Inlet.

Meanwhile.....in the USA.....where they don't blow hot air but actually do something.......

It won't be getting any better for the next several years as they let the commercial and native nets clean up the Chinook for the last several Septembers.

What's amazing is that there is a sockeye season going on at all. A projected sockeye run of 350,000 is very weak. What if they are wrong and the return is much smaller.
