Any truth to the rumor that the guides and lodges are going to attempt to get halibut changed to 1 day/ and 1 in possession to keep the season open longer?
The better fix is still an annual limit, and both guides and non guides should be unselfishly in favour of it.
lots of reading to do yet Islegirl, looking forward to your thoughts and opinions, welcome back to paradise btw .....holmes*
I don't think a yearly limit would do squat. Most rec guys don't take a lot, it's manly lodge guests coming in, taking posession, and leaving. However, if an annual limit would keep our season open, and my loose guess on the numbers is right, I have one statement to make as a guide:
BRING IT
Sorry for going a little off topic here, but I am curious about how most people view halibut fishing in general. How many of us continue to C&R hali's once their boats limit/s have been reached?? Are there people out there that enjoy fishing for halibut without keeping any??

Finaddict and Serengetiguide, I agree with you both.
I sure hope this proposal (idea?) by a few has not been brought forward.
It seems to me that it will only benefit a select few.
Getting the rec fishermans limit back up to 2/3 Or 2/2 would do way more for the guide business than anything else.
