Any herring yet?

Has anyone caught any herring around the south Island yet? I'm heading out right now to check a few spots from shore will report back with results.

Nope, but I'm curious to hear. I was going to try to jig for them on the weekend but I wasn't out in calm enough conditions.

Where are you looking Rendra?

We are probably a week or so from seeing them show up in Saanich Inlet(hoping they show!!). The Vic gorge doesn't follow the same trend that the ECVI seems to and there have been some recent reports.

I had a look at Madrona beach, nada. nice day though. If I see anything from my kayak tomorrow I'll map it for sure. Thanks for the link, and good on you Andrew for doing what you do for the herring.

The Victoria Gorge looks pretty dead. No increase in bird or seal activity or scales on the popular jiggers docks.
