Alex: Salmon Feedlot Boycott!

Hello All:

I hope this Christmas, holiday, Yuletide, New Years season is a good one for you.

I am writing to let you know that a salmon feedlot boycott has begun today asking that your New Years' Resolution include rejection of farm salmon as "food". http://www.salmonaresacred.org/blog/2013-new-years-resolution-salmon-feedlot-boycott

After twenty fruitless years of asking the salmon feedlot industry to _please_ move off the major wild salmon, prawn and herring grounds, after asking Fisheries and Oceans Canada to do what they are supposed to be doing with our tax dollars - /protect wild fish/, after asking the NDP and Liberal provincial governments not to grant new sites, or renew old ones in critical wild fish habitat /but they continue on both coasts/ - *I SUPPORT THIS BOYCOTT!*

Many on the east coast of Canada are behind this boycott as well. Businesses are good at adapting to consumer needs, but they just refuse until the consumer tells them it is not acceptable to be killing off Canada's largest wild fisheries - wild lobster, salmon, herring etc. in pursuit of their own financial gain.

The European farm salmon viruses I am tracking in supermarkets and beyond have raised my sense of urgency. I am racing an epidemic and government is stupidly giving the viruses the head start. I cannot for the life of me understand this! Please consider going to the Salmon Boycott website and signing the petition. http://www.salmonfeedlotboycott.com

Thank you and I am so hoping THIS is the year we stop the needless destruction of the wild fisheries on both coasts of Canada and can get on to the work to restore the wild fish and the jobs they bring. If you would like to contribute to this effort you can donate on line here: http://www.gofundme.com/FishFeedlotsOut Or by snail mail: Pacific Coast Wild Salmon Society, Box 399, Sointula, BC V0N 3E0

Happy New Year!

I've always been boycotting farmed salmon. Also, IMHO, friends don't let friends drive drunk or eat farmed salmon.
