Boat weights approximately 6500 with the family on board. Mostly worried about strength for holding the boat in the wind and blowback when fishing 150 feet on the rigger. Want it for storage size vs a big spool. This is what I’m looking at for Braid. Reaction Tackle High Performance Braided Fishing Line/Fishing Braid https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07MP1MBBF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tYE8FbE94YXKR?psc=1Too thin for a stern tie ?
If it's the black stuff it's great on the riggers
Lots of excitement at anchor, yeah I've seen lines with hi-vis tape and others floating or barely-visible as I search for it as I determined the route around the boats. So the votes are likely for 1/4 inch Samson? wish it was in the budget. https://www.fisheriessupply.com/samson-rope-mfp-float-line USDIf you have any neighbors at anchor, that is an excellent idea to decapitate one of them. I saw someone with a spool of flat strap. High vis yellow and you keep your head.
Yah the 150 is good enough but I went 200 for the insurance with 18s.Lots of excitement at anchor, yeah I've seen lines with hi-vis tape and others floating or barely-visible as I search for it as I determined the route around the boats. PowerPro 150lb braid good enough for 15lb balls?
I got 400' of that same stuff in 3/8 for my stern tie from Pacific Net and Twine.Lots of excitement at anchor, yeah I've seen lines with hi-vis tape and others floating or barely-visible as I search for it as I determined the route around the boats. I have usually seen the anchor drag before the stern line get's much or any tension but I hear you. Not sure the strength of the poly that lots of people use but might go with 1/4 inch braid. Why would anyone consider braid for a stern line? Would you tie your boat to the dock with it? Serious question, not being a knob.
My dad worked for Sampson, and I spliced 1000's of dock and anchor lines for Sampson and Herzog in the 90's.I’d vote for 3/8” Sampson mfp for a stern tie
Has to be able to hold you when it blows up a storm!
