Heading to Ukee with the family tomorrow (17th) for 4 days of fishing. Say hi if you see our 18ft. SilverStreak at Islands West Resort.

Did anyone get a chance to try for Springs at Turtle Head or South Bank this weekend? Wondering if it's worth a try this week.

Dear diary, 1st day of our family Ukee adventure. Left Victoria at 5:15am and drove to Cameron Lake hoping to beat the 9am closure. Arrived at stopped traffic a couple kms before the fire and sat for 50 minutes, but we got through.
The rest of the drive went well.
Launched at Island West Resort at 11:30 at headed out for the afternoon high slack.
Fished out front near the lighthouse, and got into fish right away.
Ended up keeping 7 (biggest 17lbs), released a couple 7/8lb fish and lost 2 good fish. Fish were loaded with bait, and Weegee spoons were the hot ticket.
Pulled the plug at 3:30, to check into our motel.
Looking forward to a full day of fishing tomorrow!

Nice work!🎣👍

Yuck what a difference a day makes. Tried drifting for Hali at Amphitrite bank for 1.5hrs with no luck. Switched to trolling out there and got a 20lb Hali and a small hatchery coho. Moved back in to out front of the lighthouse and trolled for another 4 hours and only managed 2 feeder springs around 8lbs and 2 more coho.

And another slow day for us to wrap up our 2023 Ucluelet trip. Fished 6 hours today between Great Bear, Alley Rock and Sail and only managed to catch 5 coho. Had a couple of long line releases and several shakers before the wind blew up around 1.
I had a great time on the water with my girls, already looking forward to next year, now for a 2 week break before Chinook opens in August!

One knockdown that didn’t stick and one olive rockfish on the troll today. Slow, changed it up and had a nice bite on the copper rockfish to save the day. Daughter lost a nice ling at the boat. We’re going to change it up and fish lings and halibut to start tomorrow to keep the kids interested.

Lots of fish up off the beach. Decent quality (small enough to not run into much for oversized issues). Fished hali for a couple hours off the beach first this am, grabbed 2 big ones and 6 chickens. Rolled the gear over to the Troll around 1030 and had a boat full for 6 folks in a couple hours. Mostly 10-15s.

Solid out there this last week (for 2023 anyhow) . Good off little beach still in the right part of the tide. Had a couple good days on lighthouse for springs and hali. Few big ones kicking around little beach/ wya.

Did a quick troll through some diving seagulls by Great Bear yesterday morning. Lost 2 good ones then nothing for the rest of the hour. Decided to go way over to Swale for the day. Fish are smaller but lots of action for the out of town friends and no wind. They got limits on chinook. Biggest being 11lb. And 4 nice coho. Picked up a bunch of prawns, rockfish and a Ling on the way home. Hope it picks up out front soon.
