Quick report: Fished Swale to Gibraltar Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a few groups of friends. Small anchovies worked best but had a lot of action on a pink hoochie as well. Fish are noticeably smaller compared to mid-August with our biggest being 15lbs. There was a pronounced bite at sunrise and then it was fairly steady throughout the day. Overall, it was a bit of a grind for us to get limits with new fishers on board. We must have lost 20 salmon over the first two days. Close to the rocks at 49 worked best for us.

Highlight was a 12lbs 78cm coho and some great whale sightings.

Fished Swale the day before yesterday. Did well on white hootchies at 45 feet tight to the beach. Good way to end the season.

Still rocking nice coho bait and 5 inch spoons dark green 55 feet also 11 mile full of 6 pound wild coho. Hard to troll for halibut as you literally can’t get to the bottom
Arrived in Bamfield today, gear down at 11:45, nice 23 near Whittlestone within the first 45 minutes, then 3 more mid teens and a 9 lb coho to wrap up at 4:30… good start to the trip. Fish had been feeding on small bait but we caught all of them on white hooches

Anything going on? Might be heading up Thursday. When we were there end of August it was - as reported - lights out on Springs. Our biggest was 23. White hoochies, small spoons, coho killer.

Just back from 4 days , 14 salmon biggest was 22lb , most around 12-14lbs . Springs are thinning out big time as most guys I spoke with would agree it was a grind for Springs, some decent Coho started to show up. Offshore for Hali was likely the best day I’ve ever had , 3 well over 100cm in a couple an hour with flat calm seas and the sun shining!

Mackerel Mania today at Swale and nearby. Nonstop action on… mackerel. Could not find a salmon to save our lives. Practically never saw a speck of bait or a single fish mark on the screen. All gone?
