I got fed up tonight listening to people tonight with all this SRKW Whales noise. Took boat too get away from it.

IMHO people spend way too much time playing marine biologists on internet lolol.

Fished fingers tonight. Lots of fish around. In a few hours had 5 fish on. Most of them were in lower teens. One pushing upper.

beauty fish u get into any coho?

Oh ok hopefully soon some start showing
The coho fishing over the last couple of years has been nothing short of abysmal. I have no idea where the straight of georgia runs have gone. Looking back at my records, last year and especially this year should have been exceptional for coho. 3,4 years back i could go out at this time of year and limit 4 guys with 8 hatch hoes and release 25 unmarked in 3 hours. So far this year i haven't seen one nor have i heard of any being caught by other guides or rec guys. Weird because im hearing theres good numbers off the west side and the south end of the island.

I got one hatchery coho around 8 lbs off the Sunshine Coast yesterday that was it though still plenty of springs around

Saw lots of boats catching fish out around fingers and neck point. But nothing for me jigging. Just couldn't find them around bait.

Was at entrance reef from 6 AM to 11.. tons of boats and tons of small fish.. must have released 40 undersized fish. Had a couple small keepers early but since the action was so hot put them back in hopes of bigger. Bad move, ended up with one keeper spring right at the 62 cm mark. Saw very few nets out, mostly everyone releasing tons of undersized.

Went out today from 11-1pm for a quick fish with the family before my daughter had to work. Fished off the fingers with lots of other boats. Not much for us, just 4 undersized springs. Still was nice to get out. Parking lot was full at Brechin.
When we got there the cleaning table was busy and talking to the creek surveyor he said he recorded 25 keepers between 8-11am. So the bite was on early.
Crazy low tide when leaving.

Fished yesterday in beautiful conditions. Lines in the water at 10 AM. Fished around the fingers with no love. Moved away from the pack and got into pretty consistent fishing. We were off the water by 2. Managed two keepers that the Creel guy measured as 66 and 71 cm. Our method showed them a bit smaller, tough to measure properly when they are alive and you don't want to stress them. Caught and released another dozen with 3 double headers. Couple of others were pretty close to legal. All caught on mid sized spoons of all varieties. Fished 110-130. Awesome day.

I switched from the small Skinny G spoon to a big glow plug and that was the solution to avoiding the little guys. Fewer hits, but bigger fish.

My dad and I had an unreal day over at Entrance today with the master Jason Tonelli of Pacific Anglers. Today was part two of the mastering local saltwater salmon course which built upon the classroom session in part 1; it was all about on the water training. Holy smokes there’s lots to learn but Jason does a great job of explaining and teaching in a perfect pace to not overload you.
We started fishing this morning at La Grande; then headed over to the Trench where the bite was unreal. We got 3 keepers, released another 6 keepers, lost 4, and even released a rock fish(got to use my auto descender which was cool) Glow flashers and chartreuse hoochies got the job done today. It was a perfect day on the water and a silky smooth ride home.

I can’t thank Jason enough for all the help and support in getting my new to me Grady dialed for salmon fishing in our area. Some great pics to share! Oh and also checkout the cool decal my wife made me for the boats official name “one fish Thu fish”
I highly recommend this course by Pacific Anglers to anyone looking to further their knowledge of our local salmon fishery, it really creates a great foundation to work with for salmon fishing here in vancouver.

Went out from 6-8pm with my daughter. Beautiful evening. So calm. Started by Clark Rock and worked our way to Neck Point keeping close to the shore. Nothing. Switched up the spoons. Nailed a 69cm spring just past Neck Point. Then started our tack back forwards the fingers but this time stayed on the outside of the hump off Neck Point. Lots of bait Got 79cm spring to finish the night off.
Busy at the cleaning table and the creel surveyor was saying it was a steady Night out there.

Forgot to mention. The larger spring had 4-5” herring and also a squid in the stomach (never seen a squid as a meal off Nanaimo)
