Started at Danvers this am. Trolled up towards Bamfield. Nothing. Ran over to Kirby and nothing .never seen a net out or any one playing a fish.

First day out this year. Trolling around meares right now. Picked up 3 coho, lost a spring. 5 hrs in so far. Seems a bit dead.

Friend was up on a guided trip out of bamfield yesterday. They stuck in the sound trying to tie into some bigger Chinook. They landed a 12lb Chinook and 4 coho…..Very slow for a guided trip. Really hope some Robertson fish show up soon or it’s gonna be a long August.

A few of the Bamfield charter boys were out in the Ukee grounds today so that says something.

Hali has been pretty decent. Currents and swell are the normal and if you commit, be safe out there. Anchoring as most of you know, comes with risks and are mitigated with learned skills. Along comes the payoff. A6452856-6DA5-4323-86D2-A6EFE37B8F70.png
the first one to the boat was measured at 165 cm, a quick tail rope/pic and off it swam. These 4 followed up in less than 2 hours. The swell picked up, fog rolled around us and we had an instant black hawk down. Went to ships and hooked a couple decent fish but only landed two hatch coho. Great crew today committed to going “out there” to have a chance at catching a halibut.

for me, its what its all about.

That’s a certified Hali SlayFest right there. Nicely done.
