2021 Nootka Sound/Esperanza Inlet Reports

Well tried Esperanza today inside it was slow too. Rosa, Blackrock and Cátala weren’t doing much. We could not get outside there it was a bit windy. Maybe next week will improve. This weeks been the worst I’ve seen it in 15 years and 40 plus trips to Nootka . It’s beautiful here. So that helps but things aren’t on fire. I got boarded by DFO and they were great. They were careful with their choice of words, but, they hadn’t seen much. We’ve fished from 35-100 feet in al the usual spots mixing up the gear.

Finally a day off for boat maintenance. Wednesday pounded our way 16 miles out heaps of halibut and cod, took 2.5hrs to get out there. I heard salmon was slower that day inside. Yesterday was dead quiet for salmon out Esperanza, weather was great so went out cod bashing. Releasing a lot of springs and coho trolling for cod offshore, there’s fish out there just can’t keep em besides the hatchery coho, which there are quite a few of. There are fish up n/w on the beach, there should be another good push soon. Some better grade springs showing up until this lull. Ferrer was on fire for a few days but I suspect all the jellyfish that moved inshore isn’t helping things…

Well Pescador that wasn't the greatest of reports  I hope things pick up soon for everyone. The Three Amigos will be up on the 16th for six nights/days of fishing. Fishing out of Strange Island and hoping to get offshore. Tight lines.

First time out with the brand new Alaskan270 finally after being allowed to come to BC.... will be in Nootka staying at Moutcha Bay Resort for 2 weeks starting July 2nd.... please watch for the big white "turd"... come by share a White Claw and some co-ordinates.... so looking forward to it!
I’ll be there with my crew of 7 vagabonds + 2 rental boats “picture me trolling” and “plug life” on the chatterbox

Geez. Glad to see some fish on this thread, but, things have been slow. Back today after 5 days in Nootka. Not one Spring. Lots of small fish but nothing I’d take home. The cleaning stations were rarely in use. Lots of sea weed off the Lighthouse and Beano mid week. Hopefully cleared up by now. Back Monday hoping it’ll turn on.

Everyone who has been catching has been down at 130’. I imagine the water is really warm right now.

Back from Thursday-today. Slow slow slow inside and out. Bottom fish are around. Mornings were superb and today was all time weather for offshore but had wife and 5mo/old this weekend. Back in a couple of weeks. Local fish will surely be around.
Tight lines.

Back up tomorrow for 6 days. I’ll report after the first couple of days. I’m sure it’s gonna be better than last week. It has to be.

Thursday morning to Sunday morning. Group of 4. We limited on our coho, still a grind very slow. We got 2 springs 8,11 ish.
we lost a spring at the net, probably mid teens, broke the leader. We had amazing ling fishing with limits. Sloooowww.

Fished july 8-11. Didn't even bother fishing nootka side and made the run to esperanza. Fished ferrer both days . Fishing was fairly decent , brought home 12. biggest was around 18lbs lost just as many. Never fished that area but once we figured it out game on. UV hoochies got all the fish. Im certain there will be a push of fish in nootka as ferrer isnt far away. Back on 15th - 19th.
