I bought my Grady in the US. The pluses are you have a wide selection of boats and some good prices. The minuses - GST and PST on the boat and trailer. Don't cheat they'll take the boat. Also, I had someone else check out my purchase. He was an idiot and I spent lots and am spending more to get it how I want it. Plus delivery. Towing it yourself you have gas both ways and any big truck towing a big boat will get about 6 miles to the gallon. Also, the problems they have with southern boats (ie Florida) is that their water is warmer and has more disolved salt and is therefore more corrosive. Also the sun damage to fabric, gelcoat and plastics is incredible. Also, beware of hurricane damaged boats that are rebuilds.

It does not appear to have a cooling system. Major drawback! Looks good though. Have a survey performed. Its worth it. Not more than $10k Can. pk.

Sorry Red, I don't know where my head was. Did the seller have one (survey) to look at?

Some like it rough...
Others just puke!.

Mr. Dean

Looks ok,spend a couple of hundred and get it surveyed, wiring not as neat as it should be.And a little too much over spray. But a nice looking boat all in all.Tons of new parts. This guy spent a lot of money if what he said is true.

thanks the runt

From what I have heard from guys and experienced myself with inboard/ouboards I would never buy a boat unless it was an outboard. The problems with the legs and engine cooling, etc. are to frequent and expensive.

Sharp hooks and full traps!

I love it !!! My buddy is buying a new boat and he says the exact opposite!!"I don't want an out board, no cabin heat, too hard to work on etc." all kinds of reasons!Thats what makes the world go round different opinions!I don't want to hijack this thread so I will start a new one. That Pursuit looks clean, the hours on it etc.survey results and desire will determine if it is worth it to you.

Thanks for the feedback!

Spooler, I think I'll be saving my beans for a 208 Grady, an awesome looking boat. I did notice that a Grady is much easier to find on the East Coast, and that's a bit far to retrieve.

I'm not sure about the inboard/outboard issue, but it's something worth thinking about. I think both have advantages and disadvantages for sure.

However, I'm always surprised to hear about folks who need to replace a relatively new engine. It's one thing to pay ???? grand for a new engine, but it would be quite upsetting to shell out thousands more in repairs a few years later. The guy at the local dealership sort of laughs everytime he asks the age of my 90HP Merc when I come in for a filter or some other minor part. I tell him it's from 1979 and that it still runs great, but he always tries to sell me a spiffy new motor ...or a shiny rebuild with a six month warranty.
:)

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."
