Here in BC the total Covid cases or new cases are confirmed by PCR lab test. Not sure on the 80% number as the studies I have seen don't follow long enough to see if they don't show symptoms later in the progression of the disease. We won't know until there are more studies with the serology lab test that measure antibodies. It is true that some never show any sign or it's so mild that it just feel like a cold. That's still a mystery that no one has really figured out.

We won't know what the true mortality is until long after this is done but I think it's a fair to say that it is 10 times worse then the flu. One just needs to watch the death rate and compare it to the average death rate and the covid 19 will show up in the numbers. There is tracker for this that shows what I mean.

GLG. How do you get 10x worse when vast majority of covid cases go untested / undetected? If Intial antibody studies seem to be believed or in ball park it would be similar to flu mortality rate.

Having grown up in New Zealand, and my dad currently still lives there, you can't make that comparison. NZ is much more remote and self sufficient than Vanisle. When they did a hard lockdown it was exactly what they needed, and it worked. Vancouver Island is much too proximate and connected to the mainland for that to work here, as much as I'd like it to.

When was the last time you heard of parking refrigerator trailers behind hospitals in New York City? Not just one but many as they could only hold 40+ souls in each.

So yea I'm thinking that Covid is 10 times worse then the flu.
 
After seeing on here 100 pages, every second of TV, Radio and life COVID 19, I have still not met, seen or even met ANYBODY who actually knows anybody with this "flu". On the other hand I know tons of people who's lively hood, financial state and future have been impacted and not in a good way. Trudope is in his glory handing out our grandchildren's taxes. One could argue that what has and is being done is CRAZYER than COVID after all the data saying many have had and did not know they had.

Still dreaming that my flights are a go end June????

Both Islands which are easier to isolate, just like the Haida Gwaii are trying to do

And yet Quebec one of the provinces hit the hardest seems to be already talking about opening up the most.
 
GLG, can you show the initial models as well? (I can get them but you're more efficient lol) Just want to show how far off these can be. But a 6 day model would be much more accurate. The Alberta ones released today were out to lunch though if anyone saw that...can post it as took a picture on my phone!
 
If you wanna talk about authoritarian or absolutely horrendous regimes. Look no further than the current state under covid. Doctors who voiced their opinions (by the way they are qualified) frkm California’s video was taken down by YouTube. Insaneeeeeeee. Whether you agree with them or not if you watched the video they did not state ANYTHING deserving of taking down. They just believed economy should open up more and stated their beliefs of facts. No matter who you are on forum and what you believed covid wise you should be maddened by this.

One local friend had to leave work, quarantine and after a difficult illness, recovered. All immediate contact staff were off 14 days and tested.
One calgary friend's father was on a ventilator and has recovered, no word on how post recovery was.
