Fished Moresby today from about 11 - 3. One bite, one fish. 7 pound hatch. Both anchovy and needlefish in the stomach. Caught on green/white glo spoon at about 160' bottom bouncing.

Great fish Mark! Unchallenged Champion of the Inlet!

I was out from 1:30 to 3:30 at Coal. Tonnes of bait balls out there in all depths, but we stuck to the 125-140 foot range.
Got into this beauty 16lb at 125ft deep with 136ft on the DR.

Hatch White too! I felt about 15 needlefish in its stomach, the ones that fell out of its mouth were not even digested. @Bugs shouldn't have a hard time analysing this one! :)

Two big runs and one long swim towards the boat meant the fight was very entertaining indeed! Biggest winter fish I've ever taken.

Caught on the 3" Blue Grand Slam Bucktail with matching blue glow flasher.

I never made it out, ended up having to work.

Sounds like there are a few larger fish showing up around Sidney area now. I have only fished out there a few times with limited success but, sounds like Sidney is the first area to see consistent larger fish every year.

Any thoughts on the origins of Marks fish ?

Washington/ Puget sound hatchery or local ?

There are lots of small ones around too. Trust me!
Also, I’ve heard of some 20+ pounders in sooke recently. Great time to get out!

Got out yesterday and fished Hamley. Only one hit and managed to land a 8-9 lb. clipped Spring. Beautiful day out there!

That’s a beauty! Congrats! Where did you catch it?
My guess is at Mark Ls top secret honeyhole at 40'!
I caught in Satellite channel heading back towards Wain rock 75ft right on bottom. I was out at 110ft but was kinda getting squeezed in by a boat on my starboard side... figured I'd let him pass me as they were going a bit faster than me. So if not for that I probably would've missed it. Thx wasn't the honeyhole but I did net it right on the mark where I hooked last year's fish.

Probly no where to be seen anyone even see him on the water.......
I looked around after the chaos and total elation and seen abset of binos on me and probably a half dozen boats in the vicinity. My buddy that works the docks and busted his butt to set up the event said he received a phone call that evening by one the entrants complaining that I must have cheated somehow...that there was no way I could've been first fish weighed in this and last year....funny and sad. To that I say " peanut butter and jelly bro?" Or...........IMG_20190311_124731.jpg

I tried to do my Mark L impersonation today but on the sidney side. I’ve been feeling SUPER rough (like unbelievably ******) lately and am finally feeling pretty good today so I wanted a bit of fresh air... I set a 2 hr max on it and stuck with that even though I lost a good one at the buzzer, and it was calming right down!
But let’s go back the beginning though. Fairly rough seas, so I decided to troll off the main motor. (It’s up to 112 hours now)
Got to my spot west of James island and threw down my cookies and cream on one side and gold nugget spoon on the other, with glow flashers, and trolled for a bit. Bam. Nice 9 pound hatch on the c&c.
Checked the gold nugget and had a trout.
Then put her back down with some fresh x10 and bam! 10 pounder.
Things slowed down as the current was picking up but had a nice hit late and lost it after about 10 seconds. Guessing 12-15lbs?
Come home, Cleaned everything and then tested out the new food saver. Thing of beauty.
Bonus* sealed some nice bellies for some hali!

I guess I was a little like @Mark L today. I was awesome, handsome, smart, funny, and I caught 19 pounds of fish.
