I keep seeing fisheries mentioned. Where is this fisheries you speak of??? Thanks!Fished West Van yesterday between Atkinson and Fisheries. Late start, dropped lines in at 10;30. It was quite active for us up till we pulled the gear at 3:00 pm. Boxed three hatch coho, got a nice 5 lb pink, and released a beauty 15 lb spring. A few others lost, and a number of hits that didn’t stick. Most action between 50 anew 65 ft on white and white/green hootchies.
Much appreciated! Interesting, fishing from PT Atkinson to fisheries is not much of a tack. I usually head more towards the PA but I'm going out tomorrow evening starting at 430. I will report findings.
We did eventually troll east of fisheries a bit but nothing happening so we we turned out into deeper water and headed back towards Atkinson on the outside of the freighters and started hitting fish again.Much appreciated! I assume you were at 50 & 65 on the DR. Was there a water depth that you found most productive? Only going out for a few hours tomorrow but will report if anything sticks. Deck fingers want to use bait so we will be trolling chovies in a teaserWe did eventually troll east of fisheries a bit but nothing happening so we we turned out into deeper water and headed back towards Atkinson on the outside of the freighters and started hitting fish again.
If you’re going for coho, I think you’re better off to troll hootchies on a short leader and a fast troll. We didn’t really get up onto the flats, so all fish were in 90+ feet of water.I assume you were at 50 & 65 on the DR. Was there a water depth that you found most productive? 10' behind the boat from clip to flasher. 45+ degrees when targeting coho (or springs in my opinion). It will happenSoutheast of Bowen two days ago, Gower Point yesterday at mid day slack and 6:30 am slack this am (what a beauty morn). Purple, green and glow flashers, Herring Aid, white/blk, white green spoons and needle fish lure. White/green and white hootchie. Also tried spoon at 25-50' no flasher.
Nada - not a salmon bite but did trade painful jabs with a rockfish which was released
leaders were about 4', also tried 5-6'
20' behind boat, 40' behind boat
2-3.5 mph troll speed but focusing more on line angle ~30... driving through bait balls and fish on sonar mostly at about 50-90'.
my boat is a 2900 Tiara with twin diesels. Is it too noisy? Am i too noisy? Do i need to make a blood or booze sacrifice?
Any ideas?
X2. 30 isn't enough and the closer to the clip the tighter and faster the roll of the flasher.10' behind the boat from clip to flasher. 45+ degrees when targeting coho (or springs in my opinion). It will happen
I do mine 5' so when I'm bouncing bottom it's not dragging my gear. Also keeps my ball in the water when I'm grabbing my clip. How far up from the cannonball do you guys set your clip?
Is your boat a 190 Calais?16:30 lines in at Pt. Atkinson trolled to PA in 120-180 depth range fished all between 45-90 on the DR 1 hootchie 1 anchovy. H20 temp 71 degrees. 1 hook up on the chovy.
Went to Cowan fished between 50-185 on the DR used chovies mostly but put on a squirt at 88 on the DR for the last tack and got 1 hookup with that. Lost 4 coho/pinks right handed buddy's on the left handed reel, of course every salmon hooked was on that rod. 3 dogs on the day.
